The City of Berea, along with the Berea City School District and local volunteers, have transformed the vacant land where the Riveredge School used to be (228 Emerson Ave - Behind Dora Lee Ball Field - Berea, Ohio 44017) into an agricultural project that will use organic farming and sustainability practices.

The goals of the Berea Community Learning Farm are three-fold:

  • to educate the citizens of Berea about nutrition, agriculture and how to grow organic foods
  • to educate school-age children in the Berea City School District about plant biology, agriculture and nutrition
  • to assist low-income residents in establishing home gardens enhancing their nutrition and health.
In the last 6 years we have hosted educational events for hundreds of Berea City School District students, as well as giving presentations to several community groups including the Berea Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.  Additionally we have donated more than 10,000 pounds of fresh organic vegetables to local food banks and church organizations!
