The Berea Community Learning Farm, established in 2017, has successfully transformed the previously vacant land of Riveredge Elementary School into a thriving community oasis. This project not only provides a space for learning but also encourages the implementation of holistic sustainable agriculture practices. By utilizing this land, the project aims to educate individuals on sustainable farming techniques and empower them to make a positive impact on their local environment. The transformation of this vacant land into a vibrant community farm has created a valuable opportunity for individuals to learn about & engage in sustainable agricultural practices.
The goals of the Berea Community Learning Farm are two-fold:
to educate the community, especially the younger generations, about nutrition and sustainable agriculture. By providing educational programs & resources, the farm seeks to empower individuals with knowledge on how to make healthier food choices and contribute to a more sustainable food systems.
to increase food access to low-income residents, thus enhancing their overall health. By growing & distributing fresh produce to those in need. The farm helps to address food insecurity and promotes a healthier lifestyle for all members of the community.
